Top-Fives By Hawley, Schrunk Lead Panthers To Fifth-Place Finish

Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames), who took runner-up honors in the women's race at Newman Golf Course, and Schrunk (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake), who was fifth, both eclipsed UNI's previous school record and now own the two fastest 6-kilometer times in Panther history.
Hawley's run of 20 minutes, 56 seconds shaved 29 seconds off the former 6K record, a mark of 21:25 set by Kari Thilges in 2000. Schrunk took fifth by completing the course in 21:18. Those runs, combined with finishes of 54th by Andrea Wacker (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy), 57th by Samantha Nygren (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) and 84th by Jessa Schweitzer (Aurora, Iowa/East Buchanan), gave the Panthers a fifth-place team finish. Along with the school 6K record, Hawley also owns UNI's all-time mark in the 4K, while Schrunk is now second all-time in both events, as well.
