Ron Moore Invite Individual Competition Final Results

 

 

The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team closed out the Ron Moore Invitational, Sunday, with a ninth-place finish at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.

 

The Panthers held on to their ninth place position after firing a 292 in the third round of play, giving them an overall score of 866. Kansas State University moved up the leader board to take first place honors after posting a score of 845. Ohio State University took second place with a total score of 847 and the University of Utah rounded out the top three, recording an overall score of 851.

 

Senior Jordan Weber (Bernard, Iowa/Cascade) paced the Panthers throughout the tournament and finished tied for fifth place after posting a two-under par score of 70 on the final day of play and an overall score of 209.

 

Senior Andy White moved up one spot from yesterday finishing tied for 14th place, recording a third round 72 and a score of 212 over the course of the three-day tournament.

 

Senior Eric Sipple (Waverly, Iowa/ Waverly-Shell Rock) climbed the leader board to finish tied for 49th place with a score of 221. He posted a low round 72 in the third. Sophomore Kyle Bermel (Keota, Iowa/Keota) slipped down to a 57th-place tie for the tournament, as he finished with a score of 224. Bermel recorded a round of 78 on the day.

 

Sophomore Troy Hoffman (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) finished the tournament tied for 77th place, carding a score of 235 and a third round score of 82.

 

Troy Merritt from Boise State University took home top honors in the tournament for the second consecutive year. Merritt finished with an overall score of 200 and posted a low round 65.

 

Junior Blake Hibben (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Northern University) finished the individual competition of the Ron Moore Invite tied for sixth place with an overall score of 220. He posted a score of 77 on the final day of competition.

 

The Panthers will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Hollister, Mo., for the three-day Branson Creek Invitational (Mar. 30-Apr. 1).
