Player Profile

Position:
Assistant to the Athletics Director

Tony DiCecco, who served for more than a decade as the Panthers' women's basketball coach, moved into a new role with the athletic department in the summer of 2007.

In his new role as assistant to the athletics director, DiCecco is assisting in fundraising for UNI athletics, particularly the Panther Scholarship Club. He also assists in marketing and promotion, with an emphasis on women's sports. He works with UNI coaches and staff, as well as members of the Cedar Valley community, to help raise money and increase attendance at UNI sporting events.

DiCecco ended his women's basketball coaching career as the winningest coach in UNI's history. In his 12 years, he led the Panthers to a 183-157 record and took the Panthers to its only three Division I postseason appearances, earning WNIT bids in 2001, 2003 and 2006.

When his career ended, he ranked seventh in Missouri Valley Conference history in wins, and his 117 conference wins are the fourth most ever by a Valley coach. During his time at UNI, DiCecco had 19 student-athletes named to All-MVC teams, including 14 first-team selections. Four of DiCecco's former players were selected to the MVC all-centennial team, which honored the top 35 players in conference history.

DiCecco is a native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and resides in Cedar Falls with his wife, Kristi.
