The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team opened up their spring season at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate, Sunday, at the Diablo Grande Ranch Resort. They stand in eighth place after the first day of competition.

Sophomore Molly Schemm (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) led the way for the Panthers tying for 20th place after the opening day. She scored an 87 in the first round of play.

The Panthers stand in eighth place after opening day with a score of 356. The University of Minnesota currently stands in first after firing a score of 326.

The tournament continues Monday at 10 a.m.
