THIS WEEK IN PANTHER WOMEN'S GOLF:

Mar. 24-25: University of Arkansas-Little Rock Classic - Hot Springs Valley, Ark.

 

The UNI women's golf team heads south, as it travels to Hot Springs Valley, Ark., for its second meet of the spring season. The Panthers will compete at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Classic against 20 other collegiate programs including Missouri Valley Conference opponents Missouri State and Wichita State. The two-day tournament will be played at the par-72 Diamante Country Club.

 

 

TEEING OFF:

 

The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team opened up its spring season at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate (Mar. 16-18) in Patterson, Calif. The Panthers fired a 989 to finish in third place. The University of Minnesota took home top honors with a score of 952.

 

The Panthers were led by Molly Schemm and Heather Frye. The duo tied for 15th place with a score of 247 throughout the three-day tournament. Schemm steadily improved each day from opening up an 87 in the first round to recording a low round 76 in the third. Frye posted identical scores of 79 in both the second and third rounds.

 

Sophomore Ann Arnason tied for 19th place at the tournament after posting a score of 249 and low round of 76.

 

Redshirt Freshman Sabrina Danielson finished in 25th place in her first tournament as a Panther with a score of 251 and low round of 74.

 

Junior Kim Weber finished in 33rd place after recording a score of 259 and a low round of 81.

 

The Panthers finished ahead of MVC Rivals Drake University and Wichita State while following close behind the Salukis from Southern Illinois.

 

"This tournament gives us a lot of confidence," said UNI head coach John Bermel. "We're going to be right there with the leaders at the Missouri Valley Conference.
