April 13-15 - State Farm MVC Championships - Omaha, Neb.

The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team wraps up its spring season at the State Farm MVC Championships in Omaha, Neb., this Sunday through Tuesday (April 13-15) at the Oak Hills Country Club. The team will compete over the course of three days with 18 holes beginning each day at 10 a.m. Team scoring for the 54-hole event will be comprised of the best four of six scores for each 18-hole round from each team.

Pairings on the first day of competition shall be determined by the pre-championship coaches' poll with the number six golfers on the lowest scoring teams teeing off first. Pairings for subsequent rounds shall be based on the results of the previous round, with the highest scoring teams and individuals teeing off first.

2008 MVC WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Illinois State has been picked to win its third State Farm MVC Women's Golf Championship in the past five years, according to a pre-championship poll of league coaches. The Redbirds, led by first-year coach Darby Sligh, narrowly edged Missouri State and defending champ Southern Illinois in the voting.

• Missouri State owns the top average score per round, just ahead of Illinois State. Southern Illinois, one of four teams in the field to win a tournament this season, owns a league-low round of 286 this season.

• Individually, the top 10 golfers in the league are separated by less than three strokes per round, by average. Illinois State's Maris Milligan leads the league with a 75.2 stroke average. She is followed closely by 2006 co-champ Missy Linnens from Missouri State and 2007 champion Bari Erais from Bradley. Erais and Southern Illinois' junior Braidy Hood are the only two golfers to win individual titles this season.

LAST TIME AROUND
• At the 2007 MVC Championships Bradley sophomore Bari Erais won the individual title.

• Southern Illinois fired a school-record and final-round 290 to win the 2007 team championship title. The team title was SIU's first since 2000.

TEEING OFF
The Panthers are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Saluki Invitational (March 30-31) in Carbondale, Ill. The tournament was hosted by Southern Illinois and played on the par-70 Crab Orchard Golf Course.

UNI finished in fifth after posting a three-round score of 611. Southern Illinois won its home tournament after firing a score of 584. The Saluki's Braidy Hood took first-place individually carding a 139.

Molly Schemm paced the Panthers with an eight-place finish, posting a score of 149 and a low-round score of 73

Junior Heather Fry finished the tournament tied for 22nd place, carding a 154 and a low round of 74. Redshirt freshman Sabrina Danielson tied for 29th place after firing a low-round 75 to finish with an overall score of 156.

Sophomore Ann Arnason finished close behind with a 31st-place tie posting a 157 and a low-round score of 78.

Freshman Shanon Davis and sophomore Brittany Bomar tied for 50th place as the duo each posted a score of 163.

Junior Kim Weber finished the tournament tied for 57th place, registering a 165 and a low-round score of 81.
